Establishing
the innovation hub
HBG Works

The City of Helsingborg has been acclaimed to be one of the most innovative cities in Europe. Their forward-thinking approach opened up for collaboration with us to create the innovation hub Hbg Works – welcoming employees, citizens and partnering companies – and bridging the gap between ideas and deployed digital solutions.

Challenge

  • The city of Helsingborg wanted to bridge the gap between ideas and deployed digital solutions for employees and/or citizens of the city
  • More and quicker (IT) results for less cost
  • Become more attractive for recruiting new personnel
  • A new environment to test and accelerate stuff

Approach

  • Establish a new physical office space where teams from the digitalisation department and other units moved in together
  • Mix of activity-based workspace, open space and rooms
  • Benefit from Open Innovation by also having partner teams placed in the environment
  • Injecting new ways of working and new methodologies, from the entrepreneurial area
  • Ideon Open coaching, challenging, empowering, driving, developing.
  • Weekly Pulse-meetings

Results

  • “Hbg Works” is established, an innovation hub for the city
  • 15 employees and 2 partners moving in during phase 1
  • An accelerator process including design sprints
  • Partner setup, offering portfolio, governance policies
